from “Night In The Triangle” (via)
On the 2006 compilation “Berkeley Guitar,” dedicated to the long history of Takoma Records, which released landmark recordings by John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Leo Kottke and many others, Matt baldwin was featured along with Sean Smith and Adam Snider. His latest release, the double album “Night In The Triangle” have been available from American Dust, and his acclaimed debut album, 2008′s “Paths of Ignition” have been uploaded to the Psychic Arts bandcamp, too.
Mikal Cronin – Get Along
“Taking influences such as late sixties Del Shannon and The Everly Brothers and filtering them through his own mutant California fuzz, Mikal deftly explores his singer/songwriter side that at moments feels like a punk Harry Nilsson or Curt Boettcher that balances sweet melodies & chords with chunky, psychedelic guitar freak-outs.”
Both tracks are taken from the forthcoming self-titled solo debut full-length from Orange County’s Mikal Cronin (Okie Dokie, Charlie and the Moonhearts), the album was recorded with his long-time friend & collaborator Ty Segall producing, Eric Bauer (Ty Segall, Royal Baths) running the tape machine and special guests, Charlie Moonheart (The Moonhearts) and John Dwyer (Thee Oh Sees), due out on September 20th via Trouble In Mind Records.
Taken from the last year’s collaborative album “Reverse Shark Attack” by Ty Segall and Mikal Cronin. Recently Ty Segall has joined Sic Alps again, they release a new 4-song 7″ EP “Breadhead” on August 23rd via Drag City, now the band consists of the founding member Mike Donovan (formerly of the Ropers), Eric Bauer and Ty Segall.
