‘Back, Baby’ is taken from Jessica Pratt‘s second full-length “On Your Own Love Again” which was recorded by Jessica herself at home, and it was mixed in collaboration with Will Canzoneri (Darker My Love, Cate Le Bon, Cass McCombs, Kevin Morby). Dawn McCarthy (Faun Fables) & Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy collaborative, a tribute to the Every Brothers album “What The Brothers Sang” is out NOW via Drag City / Domino UK. It was recorded and mixed by David Ferguson at Butcher Shop Studio in Nashville spring 2012. The songs were played by Emmett Kelley (Cairo Gang), Dave Roe and Kenny Malone, with featured players Billy Contreras, John Mock, Dan Dugmore, Matt Sweeney, Pete Townsend, John Catchings, Bobby Wood, Joey Miskalin, Nils Frykdahl (Faun Fables), Ian McAllister, Joey Baron, Dr. Chris Vivio, and Noah Tag.

also…. another Will Oldham’s collaborative split single is available via Baltimore’s Friends Records. It features Nat Fowler, Chris Freeland and Marc Miller of Oxes teaming up with Will Oldham (Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy) and Bob Weston (Shellac, Mission of Burma) for a cover of Shery Crow’s “Strong Enough” (Baerwald, Botrell, Crow, MacLeod, Riketts). Recorded by Bob Weston, the track is exclusive to this 7” and has been hidden deep in the vaults for years. Side B of the split includes Marc Miller, Will Redman and John Dierker of Microkingdom enlisting Sam Herring (Future Islands) on vocals and Liz Meredith on viola for a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” (Springsteen).



The Wingdale Community Singers – So What (Andy’s Lament)

‘So What (Andy’s Lament)’ is taken from the new full-length / third album “Night, Sleep, Death” by The Wingdale Community Singers, out on February 19th via the Drag City subsidiary Blue Chopsticks. 

The Wingdale Community Singers was formed in 2001 by Hannah Marcus and Rick Moody. David Grubbs joined in 2003 in time for the first album, eponymously titled, released in 2005 on Plain Recordings. Nina Katchadourian joined soon after the first album. The second album, SPIRIT DUPLICATOR, is available on Scarlet Shame Records.


David Grubbs, a founding member of Squirrel Bait, Bastro, and Gastr Del Sol, set to release his new full-length “The Plain Where the Palace Stood” on April 16th via Drag City. “Parallax Sounds” is a documentary feature that explores the intimate connection between music and urban landscape in Chicago, directed by the award-winning Italian filmmaker Augusto Contento. The film brings interviews with musicians who contributed to shape the vibrant Chicago underground music scene in the 90s and continue to do creative and relevant work today: Steve Albini, David Grubbs, Damon Locks, Ken Vandermark, Ian Williams and Azita Youssefi. Director Augusto Contento’s signature stunning visual sequences are enhanced by a soundtrack composed by Ken Vandermark that features David Grubbs, Steve Albini and other great musicians from Chicago. –Cineparallax 

Blues Control – Iron Pigs (from “Valley Tangents”)

Blues Control is a Queens, NY-based improv psych duo featuring Russ Waterhouse (guitar, electronics, tapes) and Lea Cho (keyboards, electronics), both from Watersports. The duo have just released their first Drag City album “Valley Tangents,” the long-awaited full-length follow-up to 2009′s “Local Flavor” (Siltbreeze), and last year’s  Laraaji collaboration for FRKWYS.

Laetitia Sadier – Find Me the Pulse of the Universe


Here’s a new song taken from Laetitia Sadier‘s forthcoming second solo full-length “Silencio,” which is due out on July 24th via Drag City. The album features Sam Prekop of The Sea and Cake, her former Stereolab bandmate Tim Gane and James Elkington formerly of The Zincs, and currently with The Horse’s Ha.
