Angus MacLise was an American artist, poet, percussionist, and composer active in New York, San Francisco, Paris, London and Kathmandu from the 1950’s through the 1970’s. Best known as the original drummer of the Velvet Underground, MacLise’s lifework included music, calligraphy, performance art, poetry, drawings, plays, and limited edition artist’s books.

Alice Cohen has her first solo art show titled “Mirror Moves For Private Eyes” for the Live With Animals gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It features her paintings, collages, installations, and a brand new 15 minute long animated video.

Alice Cohen lives and works in Brooklyn NY. A long-time musician, she has released records since the 1980s as a solo musician, composer, and as a member of various bands. A long-time collagist as well, she started animating her collage materials during the last few years, and has created music videos for bands such as DucktailsCoasting, and Talbot Tagora, amongst others.


Short excerpt from the longer video “Mirror Moves for Private Eyes”. The full 15-minute video will be projected throughout the month of August at Live with Animals Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. 
























Psychedelic Summer” Lo-Fi Record Shop & Art Show

(June 24 – July 24) at the RARE Gallery


RARE Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition and independent record shop curated by Seattle-based collaborative studio CMRTYZ. Including original artwork by John Malta, C.M. Ruiz, Cassie Ramone (of Vivian Girls), and Matthew Volz (of The Beets), Psychedelic Summer promises to be this season’s weirdest happening. Stocked with vinyl, limited editions, and assorted lo-fi merch by Bachelor, Captured Tracks, CMRTYZ, Family Time, Floridas Dying, Goner, HoZac, Psychic Lunch, Vice, and others, the shop will occupy RARE from June 24 to July 24.
