Blues Control – Iron Pigs (from “Valley Tangents”)

Blues Control is a Queens, NY-based improv psych duo featuring Russ Waterhouse (guitar, electronics, tapes) and Lea Cho (keyboards, electronics), both from Watersports. The duo have just released their first Drag City album “Valley Tangents,” the long-awaited full-length follow-up to 2009′s “Local Flavor” (Siltbreeze), and last year’s  Laraaji collaboration for FRKWYS.

Previous the Frkwys (a play on the name of the legendary Folkways record label founded by Moses Asch in the late 40s to document sound and movement in music from around the world, FRKWYS (think Freakways) 12″ series pairs contemporary artists and their progenitors by way of remix, reinterpretation, and original collaboration.  collaboration series) first release, perversely titled Vol.2, featured remixes of Brooklyn industrial pop oddballs Excepter by underground legends J.G. Thirlwell (Foetus), Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto) and Chris & Cosey (of Throbbing Gristle).
