“I had been asked to make the score for a documentary film called Confluence. The film is based in the Lewiston, Idaho area, not too far from where I grew up in the USA, and it chronicles several mysterious cases of young girls found murdered or gone missing around 1980, all of which seem to lead back to one man who for a variety of reasons has not been able to be charged with these crimes.”

New-Berliner Peter Broderick has released “Music For Confluence,” a film score album for the documentary “Confluence,” directed by Jennifer Anderson and Vernon Lott. It was preceded by the double A-side 7″ single ‘Old Time’ b/w ‘Solace In Gala,’ songs from “Confluence” and the another documentary “Grace and Mercy,” directed by Luis Peña, with a download of the full 14-track score entitled “Music For Grace And Mercy – a film of Haitians helping Haitians.”

An Island is an unconventional music performance film and an abstract documentary about a band and an island. The running time is 50 minutes.  In August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Efterklang’s 8 piece-live band met up on an island off the Danish coast.  The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations.  Over an intense period of 4 days Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and their own parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their album Magic Chairs (4AD, Rumraket 2010).

After completing work on the elaborate forthcoming follow-up to his vocal debut, Home (HUSH, Bella Union/2008), musician/composer Peter Broderick went into the studio with the goal of recording and mixing an album in one day, live to 2” tape, with no overdubs or punch-ins. Only voice, piano, and guitar. How They Are is this record.  (HUSH)

a year is round
This animated video was created by a collaboration between She Animates (Matt and Kate) and Peter Broderick – a composer / musician, well known for being an adopted member of Efterklang, and recordings/tours with several groups/musicians (Horse Feathers, M. Ward, She & Him, Norfolk & Western, Laura Gibson, and many more).

This simple idea happily came to life with a lot of patience, some nimble prop making skills and the gift of a charming guitar from our good friend Johnny. Pleased with the outcome we decided to send it to one of our favourite musicians Mr. Peter Broderick, whose music inspired the initial idea. We were over the silvery moon when Peter agreed to soundtrack it for us.
