Marker Starling is the latest project by Toronto’s Chris A. Cummings already known as Mantler for many years. Recently he has been supported by a band consisting of Jay Anderson (drums) and Matt McLaren (bass), both of whom play a prominent role in Marker Starling’s new album “ROSY MAZE,” out NOW via Tin Angel Records.

In 2014 Chris Cummings collaborated with the German band Von Spar, contributing vocals and lyrics to four songs on their album “Street Life” (ITALIC recordings).



Both tracks are taken from the a cassingle on Bad Actors / Burger Records, Nov 17, 2014.  Michael Rault is a Toronto-via-Edmonton singer, guitarist and songwriter fronting his own eponymously named band.  His latest EP “Living Daylight” (2014, Pirates Blend Records), produced and recorded in collaboration with Renny Wilson (Mint Records), will be released from Burger Records in 2015. 

マック・デマルコやショーン・ニコラス・サヴェージと同じくエドモントンから現れ、現在はトロント・ベースに活動するマルチ・インストゥルメンタリスト / ソングライター・パフォーマー、ミシェル・ローの米Burger Recordsから(本国ではU.S. GirlsやHomeshake、Yacht ClubをリリースするBad Actorsから)のカセットシングル。2014年のEP『Living Daylight』も今年Burger Recordsからリリース予定との由。

“For Strong Feelings, legendary multi-instrumentalist Garth Hudson (The Band) who also appeared on Constant Companion adds his signature keys to the new album. Other guests include Bahamas (aka Afie Jurvanen), bass sax player Colin Stetson (Arcade Fire, Bon Iver), Bazil Donovan (Blue Rodeo), Emmett Kelly (The Cairo Gang) and vocalist Mary Margaret O’Hara. Strong Feelings was produced by Stew Crookes and recorded at Noble Street Studio in Toronto and at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa with Hudson playing a Steinway piano that famously belonged to composer Glenn Gould.”

Heather Goodchild is a Toronto-based artist working primarily in textiles and she has designed album covers for Canadian musicians including Justin Rutledge and Matthew Barber, and her friend Doug Paisley (“Constant Companion”).

Heather Goodchild’s work strives to uncover and explore stories and symbols with universal resonance. Focussing on textiles as a medium, she creates felt portraits, rugs, quilts, silk screened prints, soft sculpture, and dioramas.



Bahamas – Caught Me Thinkin (from “Barchords”)

A follow-up to 2009′s debut album “Pink Strat” (named after his guitar, a pink Fender Stratocaster) which was nominated for the Polaris Prize and a Juno for Roots / Traditional Album Of The Year, a Toronto-based singer-songwriter-guitarist Afie (AY-fee) Jurvanen a.k.a. Bahamas release his new full-length “Barchords” via Jack Johnson’s label, Brushfire Records on Feb 7th. “Barchords” was recorded with his touring drummer Jason Tait and bassist Darcy Yates, at a cabin in rural Ontario, where he recorded “Pink Strat” album.

“Bahamas is Afie Jurvanen, and for the last many years he’s been playing other people’s music– PasoMino, Great Lake Swimmers, The Stills, Howie Beck, Amy Millan, Jason Collett, Hayden and zeus. He’s spent the last few years playing piano and guitar with Feist.”

The song is taken from Tielli’s debut solo record “Swan Sky Sea Squirrel” released on Tin Angel Records / Blocks Recording Club. The video was shot by Southern Souls.

Tielli played, recorded and produced most of “Swan Sky Sea Squirrel” himself. Guest on the record include Drumheller’s Nick Fraser, Jennifer Castle, and a “sloppy background choir”.


Brother of Martin (Rheostatics), and John (Rock Plaza Central, Metal Kites), Doug Tielli is a testament to the multiverse that is the underground music scene born of The Tranzac, the Toronto Australia New Zealand Club, musical home to many of Toronto’s shadow wizards like Sandro Perri, Ryan Driver, Eric Cheneaux and Alex Lukashevsky. There you might find Doug singing and playing guitar and trombone in critically beloved acts like The Silt, Drumheller, and the Reveries. Along with other members of The Silt, Doug backed fellow Tin Angel artist Devon Sproule on her most recent record “I Love You, Go Easy”.
